The Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics is redefining the way musculoskeletal care is delivered across the region with locations throughout Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Kate Hews has been a physical therapist in primarily outpatient orthopedics for over 10 years. After earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Hartford in 2012, she worked in Connecticut, Virginia, South Carolina, and Nantucket before landing in DC. Kate values continuous learning and is always innovating new methods to help a variety of patients. She understands that no two people or injuries are the same and are working toward different goals. She has worked with a wide range of ages and diagnoses and especially loves treating the shoulder and knee. She has treated both athletes and weekend warriors, helping them recover from injuries, preventing them from recurring and enhancing their athletic performance. Kate loves finding creative and exciting ways to motivate and challenge her patients to help them reach their goals.
Kate’s patients appreciate her sass and sense of humor, which helps them cope with the pain and frustration that is often associated with recovering from an injury or surgery. She will encourage you to work hard and push you to do things you did not think you could. She is always willing to distract you with the question of the day or a funny story about her family in Massachusetts.
In her free time, she likes to break a sweat by weightlifting, running, and cycling. She has a spoiled poodle named Kinley who she brings to vineyards and dog parks, while also finding time to cuddle up on the couch. She enjoys going to shows and concerts, trying new foods and traveling.
